Many reports came out this weekend of a "mystery" big man on campus. I am not 100% positive who this person was, but I have been catching wind of a new target, who may or may not have been this "mystery" big man.
John Riek, a native of Sudan, has suddenly popped up on UK's radar and many other schools as well. Riek attends Our Savior New American High School, and has recently been listed as one of the top five players in the 2008 class, ranking second in his position. Riek is a 7'2" 240 pound man-child, a pure dominant center. He is exceptionally gifted on the defensive side and is an excellent rebounder. Riek's wing-span is incredibly long and his hand strength makes it almost impossible to take the ball away from him upon rebounding. Improvement in post play is needed, and Riek seems to dribble unnecessarily at times.
UK has been in contact with Riek, and are listed in his top schools. It is unknown whether Riek has visited UK or when exactly he will visit. Riek is relatively new and not much is known about him, but I will deliver more information when it becomes available.
